Credit Cards From Jetstar
As one of the lowest-cost airlines in Australia, Jetstar has a reputation for offering more choices to suit any budget. But this kind of attitude extends beyond airfares and into the realm of credit cards with two different Jetstar credit card options.
Operated through Macquarie Bank and processed through MasterCard, the Jetstar Credit Card and Jetstar Platinum Credit Card are low-rate alternatives to more familiar credit card offers from the big credit card industry players.
About The Jetstar Credit Cards
As with other airline-branded cards, both Jetstar options give cardholders the chance to earn points that can be put towards airfares for even cheaper flights.
With the standard Jetstar credit card, people can save up to $500 on airfares every year, with one cent in Jetstar Dollars awarded for every $1 spent. Once $100 Jetstar Dollars are earned a voucher will automatically be sent to the cardholder and can be used on any Jetstar flights.
As well as this airline rewards program, the standard card has an array of features that stand up to other credit card competition. Some of the card highlights include:
- A very low interest rate of 12.74% p.a. on purchases
- A balance transfer interest of 0% p.a. for six months
- A low annual fee of $49; and
- No card payment fees when purchasing Jetstar flights online with the credit card
When compared to other airline rewards cards, this option may not be ideal for someone whose focus is on racking up reward points, but as a low rate credit card it is among the lowest offers around and the potential Jetstar Dollars could be seen as something of a bonus.
In addition to the balance transfer offer and waived fee for online Jetstar flight purchases, the Jetstar Platinum card offers a personal concierge service, complimentary overseas travel insurance and extended warranty insurance.
It also increases the potential Jetstar Dollar earnings to $2000 per year, with two cents in Jetstar Dollars for every $1 charged to the card and has a competitive 19.74% p.a. interest on purchases.
At two cents to a dollar, it would take $5000 to get a $100 Jetstar Dollar voucher, but for someone who is constantly using a credit card and does a lot of travelling, this card does have potential.
For people who want the best interest rate and a flight reward option to go with it, either of these cards is worth considering.
Finding a balance between costs and rewards is often a struggle with credit cards, but these two have found a happy medium that could be the answer to someone’s credit card wishes.
