1 July, 2011

When looking at credit card options it can be easy to fall into the trap of only considering what your bank has to offer, but GE Money has a range of credit card options that could be just as good, if not better.

Here is a look at three of the most popular GE Money credit cards to see what they offer and who may suit these cards, so that you have even more options when searching for a credit card.

GE Money Low Rate MasterCard

With a low interest rate of 15.49% p.a. on purchases, up to 55 days interest free and a low annual fee of $58, the GE Money Low Rate MasterCard is a great option for people who want to stay on top of repayments but still have flexibility when they need it. It also provides the option of additional cardholders at no extra cost, making it great for couples that want to share one credit account.

As a MasterCard credit card this GE Money option is accepted at over 22 million locations worldwide, with standard MasterCard protection and GE Money’s own Account Protection Insurance. Cardholders also have access to the GE Money Advantages rewards program so that they can get even more out of their card.

GE Money eco MasterCard

As the first credit card in Australia to purchase carbon offsets on behalf of the cardholder, the eco MasterCard is the perfect option for people who want to take a more active role in supporting the environment.

People with an eco MasterCard can choose to contribute an amount equal to 1% of purchases to emission reduction projects, or 0.5% and get 0.5% cash back as credit to the account. The contributions made, via Origin’s Carbon Reduction Scheme will go towards projects with a focus on reforestation, renewable energy, water and wastewater treatment, land and habitat conservation, energy efficiency and other environmental initiatives.

This card also features and interest rate of 0% p.a. on balance transfers for six months and a purchase rate of 19.99% p.a. with up to 55 days interest free, making it a competitive and green option to consider.

GE Money 28 Degrees MasterCard

For people who shop overseas or want to take advantage of cash advances on their credit card, the 28 Degrees MasterCard is a great option. This credit card does not charge additional fees for ATM withdrawal, cash advances or overseas purchases and has the same interest rate of 19.49% p.a. for purchases and advances.

Other features of the 28 Degrees MasterCard include:

  • No annual fee

  • Up to 55 days interest free; and
  • Fast application process

When considering credit cards it is important to be aware of every option available. Sometimes banks will have amazing deals for you to choose from, but sometimes another credit card provider, like GE Money, is also worth considering.
